HR 2262

Flexibility for Workers Education Act

This bill is about changing a rule called the Fair Labor Standards Act of 1938. Right now, this law says what counts as "hours worked" for employees. This new bill wants to change that so that certain activities, like attending lectures, education, or training programs, would not be counted as "hours worked." This would only happen if these activities are done outside of regular work hours, are voluntary, and the employee doesn't do any actual work for their boss during them. It also says that time spent changing clothes or washing at the start or end of the workday, if agreed upon in a union contract, would not count as "hours worked" either.
